Michael Zacherl
Vienna based improvising musician, sound-artist, composer and engineer. Has been working with electronic
sound devices and prepared traditional instruments since his early youth.
Studied computer music and electronic media, traditional and New Percussion.
Creates and performs multi-channel fixed media pieces and sound installations.
Plays compositions and improvisations on his DIY instruments. Interested in
technologies of all ages, their combination and contemporary interpretation. Focused on music performance and on
researching sound and its effects.
Apart from playing solo performances, appearances with his duo-project blauwurf,
snim – the Spontaneous Network of Improvised Music, the Vienna Improvisers Orchestra and many others.

Improvisierender Musiker, Klangkünstler, Komponist und Ingenieur, lebt und arbeitet in Wien.
Seit früher Jugend Beschäftigung mit elektronischen Klangerzeugern und präparierten traditionellen Instrumenten.
Studierte Computermusik und elektronische Medien, sowie Ausbildung in traditioneller und New-Percussion.
Solo-Auftritte mit selbstentwickelten elektronischen Instrumenten sowie elektroakustische Präsentationen eigener und fremder Werke.
Interessiert an Technologien aller Zeitalter, deren Kombination und Neuinterpretation.
Fokussiert auf Liveauftritte und der Erforschung von Klang und seiner Wirkung.
Gründung seines Duo-Projekts blauwurf und Mitglied des Kollektivs snim – Spontanes Netzwerk für improvisierte Musik,
des Vienna Improvisers Orchestras und anderen.
